The End of the F***ing World

The title is so relevant to our current sentiment, but this is a TV show I found on Netflix. Produced in the UK, and adopted from a graphic novel of the same name, the show is about two teens who run off together. Girl likes boy. Boy wants to kill girl. It’s dark and twisted and quite funny at times. The screenwriters did an excellent job at creating multi-dimensional characters whose motives are clear. I will say 8 episodes a season is entirely too little! The worse thing about this show is that when it ends you’ll be left craving more.

I binged both seasons back to back. I like the beginning and middle of season one, but not the end. I like the middle and end of season two, but so much the beginning. One of my favorite things about this is how dynamic the characters are. There are moments when I love and hate the leads, yet I still support them. Another thing that drew me to it is these kids deal with some heavy shit. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but this show is a tremendous portrait of emotional turmoil and hope.
