Does this look like a heart?

I’ve finally landed on a place to live—a state with great job opportunities, lots of nature, all four seasons, high walkability score, no state income tax, and legal lettuce.

On the other hand, I’m nervous about driving on snow AND I’d be part of a super minority as only 5% of the population is Black.

The pros outweigh the cons, but I can’t help being scared of the unknown. In a way, I’m feeling like a school girl again with the same butterflies I felt before moving off to college.

There’s no handlebars this time—no long time friends moving there with me, none of the built in community that living on campus provided.

This time I’m making big girl moves all on my own while tying hearts on my chest to soothe my anxious soul.

      1. “Ah, but a man never got a woman back
Not by begging on his knees
Or I’d crawl to you baby and I’d fall at your feet
And I’d howl at your beauty like a dog in heat
And I’d claw at your heart, and I’d tear at your sheet
        I’d say please
I’m your man” – Leonard Cohen

  1. Congratulations on your move and your fancy rope work! You will get the hang of driving on snow quickly, hopefully you have good tires and maybe all wheel drive. The worst thing about driving on snow is worrying about the other drivers that aren’t paying attention/driving too fast or have had too much legal lettuce…lol

    1. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I haven’t moved yet, but I know where I wanna be, which is half the battle 💪

Hahah, hopefully the legal lettuce ones would drive slower

  2. Congrats! Knowing is half the battle. If you haven’t made the move yet, maybe you should consider Greater Toronto Area.🍁 The black population in my area is 16.7%. We’ve got 4 seasons, free health care, nature and we’ve had legal lettuce for years. 😎😏we could be neighbours!
